I would gladly pay DOUBLE the sticker price If I could have the amazing Huawei Pura X View in my hands right now and (practically) use it here in the United States!
I hate the current "tall and skinny" industry standard for smartphones! (By "tall and skinny", I mean phones that have displays with aspect ratios taller and narrower than 16:9.) How much do I hate tall/skinny phones?
Since 2011, I have been a loyal buyer of Samsung's S-Pen equipped flagship "slab" phones (non-folding phones). From 2011 (the original Samsung Galaxy Note) to 2017 (Galaxy Note 7) I upgraded my phone every year, and I was happy and excited to do so.
2018 brought us the Galaxy Note 8 (Samsung's first "tall and skinny" flagship phone). I didn't like the Note 8 from the moment I saw it, but I purchased it anyway. To say that I (and quite a few other people, judging by the response in online forums) was dissatisfied with the Note 8's 18.5:9 screen aspect ratio would be an understatement!
After the Note 8, the tall/skinny phone standard was here to stay- so, I QUIT UPGRADING MY PHONE EVERY YEAR. After the Note 8, I upgraded my Samsung Flagship about every three years. (I saw no point in spending money on new tall/skinny phones that I would be lukewarm to, at best.)
This brings me to today. My current phone is a Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. In my mind it is time to replace my current phone. I've been watching and reading reviews of the Huawei Pura X View. If the Huawei Pura X View was officially released in the United States, I would take my Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, put it underneath my SUV's tires and back over it- repeatedly! 😂
But, since the Pura X View isn't a realistic option, I'll be holding onto my S24 Ultra. Yesterday, I had my S24 Ultra's battery replaced (about $100 at UBreakiFix) in preparation for holding onto the S24 Ultra for maybe another three years- or until Samsung quits updating it to the latest version of Android. Hey, Samsung, how about a new "wide" slab phone in your S28 phone lineup. (I know there will be no such phone in your upcoming 2027 lineup.)
