If anyone made the 5 sensor layout tolerable it was samsung, and this is coming from someone who bought exclusively Motorola before.

So everybody should just copy Samsung then? That's not how design works. Things change. Also, unless you take a lot of mirror selfies or rest your phone face down, you'll rarely see what the back of it looks like. I see the displays of my S24 Ultra, 17 Pro & 10 Pro XL way more than their camera setup.

This dude on Droid-Life said he got the Moto book style foldable & it's better than the Fold 7. This new Signature 27 reminds me of the Motorola Droid days when I was still using their phones back then. I hope they've updated their customization options. That & the lackluster camera upgrades from 2010-2014 is what made me switch to Samsung but like you my interest is piqued.

I generally stay far away from Motorola phones due to their lackluster software updates, but they have been making efforts to improve on that as of late. I hope they address all of our concerns with this smartphone.

Agreed. I haven't had a Motorola as my daily since January 2014. It would still take a lot for this phone to become that, but hopefully it will put them in contention in the flagship department.

If it works then why mess with it? Thats like trying to complain about phones having a flat screen because Apple did it. It works and it looks a lot better than whatever this monstrosity is.

Oh, you've had access to both devices & done a full comparison? Drop the link to your review.

Motorola has been 'knocking it down a notch' for the last 8-9 years. This is the first Flagship they have released in the US in that same time. If they are going to make a flagship, why not go all the way? There's plenty of cheaper options.

I used to buy exclusively Moto phones starting in 2010 all the way through 2018, and every single year they would knock it out of the park. I never had to doubt if their newest phone was good enough, I would just buy it because it was the best you can get. They invented the fricking cell phone for fu¢ks' sake! They NEED to do better. This phone has the BEST available SoC, LPDDR6 RAM, UFS 5.0 storage, Bluetooth 6, WiFi 7, 10-bit screen, 165hz refresh rate, IP68/IP69 (Which makes it MIL-STD-810H compliant), 7 major OS updates, Bang & Olufsen speaker, and a phenomenal camera setup. This is what Moto fans have been waiting for, if you want a cheaper phone, there's no shortage of options for you.

It definitely looks exciting. I'm sure the all the tech reviewers will appreciate it. It will be a viable option to be on the stores next to Samsung and Apple. But I'm a budget buyer and I don't pay for a phone on payment plans. In an age where all the prices are sky rocketing, wouldn't it make sense to offer something a tier down? The SD 8gen2 and Gen 3 had more than enough speed for everything I ever want to do on a phone as well as stay snappy for a long time.

But what Moto has never done (and what peaked my interest most of all) is combine ANY of their other phones (either low or high end - see the RAZRs before the Fold) with 7 years of support. EVERY moto release, the first thing I do is see how long the software support is. I have erased EVERY single Moto phone from my list of possibilities because they have never done more than 3 years for any of their regular phones except for one, I believe, and it never came to the States. I totally would have figured out how to get last year's Moto Edge if it had 7 or even 5 years of support - just need decent performance, great battery life, and not crap cameras. Just like every other Moto, it got 2 OS updates and it shipped with Android 15! Never an option. I'm probably a niche buyer but with so few options for Android phones in the US combined with soaring prices, I figure Motorola could take advantage of a possible opportunity here 🤷‍♂️

The reason for 7 years support is because GrapheneOS requires it. The Signature 2026 is cheaper than the 27 if you are looking for high-end but not quite 'flagship' level. More phones will offer GrapheneOS soon, and those will also get 7 years support and monthly security updates so stay tuned!

You must not have been around when Motorola dropped the Droid Bionic in September, the Droid Razr in November & the Droid Razr Maxx in January during the 2 year contract days.

True, I was there (i even remember Android 1.6 - times hehe).

Thankfully I was broke when the Bionic & Razr came out, because had I gotten either of the 2, I wouldn't've been able to get the Razr Maxx after it came out.
