The fact that the prices of the Android devices I actually WOULD buy are as high as or more than those of the iPhone.
It's just getting harder to justify these days. I love my OnePlus 13, but OP is no longer an option for me. I am not willing to gamble on Nothing. Moto is less of a gamble, but not as impressive here in this market. Samsung is expensive and not innovating in areas I want to see and the Pixel devices just always sound disappointing, like this article describes.

Not i own or would ever own a Pixel, as I am a Samsung fan, but have you ever owned or used a Pixel because I have never heard complaints about the Tensor SOC struggling to run AI, camera or normal browsing/texting nor mobile functions. No the Pixrl is not a stong gaming phone but if i understand correctly, it isnt intended to be. I reiterate that I have no personal experience with a Pixel so you may be right. It just saddens me when I see derogatory and/or inflammatory post when often they are unsubstantiated as they are made out or experiential ignorance.
I had a Pixel 8 for about a week, testing it out. The signal was awful, and the battery life was just as bad. I like the software and the camera, but what I care about most is a good battery, fast charging, and good signal reception. I currently have a OnePlus 12, and I love those three aspects. I'm going to miss the OnePlus's good signal reception, which I've compared to Galaxy, Pixel, and iPhone, and OnePlus comes out on top in all of them. Unfortunately, OnePlus is leaving the market, and for the US, what are we really left with? Samsung and Google, because Motorola only offers mid-range phones and foldable phones, and with the rumors that they're also leaving some markets, they're not very reliable. I'll stick with the OnePlus 12 until it dies. Let's see if in a couple of years Samsung or Google have phones with more than 5500 mAh of battery life!
At least I'm not paying more for something without basic SMARTphone functionality, a US warranty, carrier compatibility, and functional access to Google services. 😏
I'm sorry if I hard time believing the reception issue comment. OnePlus only works on T-Mobile and only on limited bands if i can belive anything I have read. I can absolutely understand your issue with battery life as i have read the OnePlus had a larger battery. However your original very nasty statment disparaging the Pixel engineers seemed aimed at the Tensor SOC being, how did you described it "useless" and their design director as having "manure for brains". Look I'm not trying to be disrespectful to you just questioned why you would speak so harshly about a phone and company criticizing things I hadn't heard anyone else complaining about.
