Funny theory no one is talking about: Buying a costly iPhone Pro Max means you don't own the "best" iPhone: the iPhone Duo. The problem is, normal people don't want to spend $2000 on the iPhone Duo. As a result, demand will be low for both.

Another possibility is that Apple have finally stopped with the manipulation of delivery times?

This. Even Apple users are having 2nd thoughts on getting the Duo. Not because they don't want rather, it's not worth the asking price. Not saying that other foldables are cheaper but for now, it's only the tech enthusiasts (and of course, wealthy people) will get one.

A price hike, new colour scheme, variable aperture, a battery boost, and a smaller cutout, its really not anything exciting, then you have that folding device that apple fans swore was a gimmick will all now rush to buy.

I preordered my 18 Pro max burgundy 256gb to arrive on the 18th purely because my trade in was so high £750 on my orange 17 pro max, no brainer to upgrade at that price really.

When you look at other suppliers like Amazon, you can still get despatch on the 18th.

I think it’s quite a simple reason. Last year’s models were very popular, this year there is hardly any noticeable improvement (the vast majority of people don’t even know what variable aperture is) and a big price increase. So those who upgraded last year aren’t going to be tempted. And those who didn’t will go for a 17 series (you can easily get the 17 Pro Max for about $/£ 1000)

How is that even a surprise? It's the same thing as the 17 series!🙄🙄

Not a suprise, other than a new chip and slight battery life upgrade it's no different from last year's model

I did the same in the US. The trade in for the 17 pro max is $885 so it made sense to spend a few hundred and get a new phone with some upgrades and the color we liked.
