Please, don't talk about things you have no clue about. All I pointed out was that Samsung had seven previous Fold and Flip models, plus a tri-fold, yet never prioritized a wider aspect ratio until this year. And why is that? Because Apple finally decided to enter the foldable market with a book-style, wide design. It is hard to ignore the patterns here. If Samsung had released a wider foldable last year, it wouldn't have been a big deal, but the timing is just too obvious. We’ve seen this time and again—the Watch Ultra, the new earbuds that mimic Apple’s design, and the S25 edge attempt. Now, with the Galaxy Z Fold 8 moving to a wider aspect ratio, it’s hard not to conclude that Samsung is once again simply following Apple’s lead.

Samsung is thanking Apple for it's success! Every iPhone sold is money in Samsung's pocket! Samsung had this aspect ratio a long time ago with the Note 5... Things take time to develop, for all we know they both got together and collabed on this design... But it's highly unlikely that Samsung was able to get Apples plans, run R&D, and still bet them with a wider design and still make improvements to the other fold/flip and watches...
Samsung and Apple were probably already developing at the same time. Plus it had been rumored 2 Folds ago Samsung was working on a "wider" Fold!
I have not owned, nor do I want to own a Folding phone. They are all overpriced devices that offer no real benefit over stuff i already own.
I do think convergence devices are cool. I've already spent some tome with the Fold 7. I purchase the Flip 5 and 6 for the wife I see the Flip as being the base model S that's just a clamshell.
I think they are cool, but they are somply not practical.
Smartphones are already made from cheap materials that easily get damaged or broken. Buying one that folds where the most fragile part is also the most expensive to repair, is not for me.
I have a Galaxy Tab 9 Ultra. It is the perfect tablet. I have my Surface Book. Whenich also detaches to be a tablet.
