Samsung should really be thanking Apple for this success. It’s a fact that if Apple hadn't signaled they were working on a book-style foldable, Samsung never would have adopted this wider aspect ratio. Despite releasing seven previous generations of foldables, Samsung avoided this design until Apple’s plans leaked—much like how they copied the Ultra watch and the edge trend to compete with the iPhone air. Once again, you're welcome, Samsung.

Samsung and other Chinese OEMs already had this in their parts bins. Apple only came along and said what parts they wanted. Not that they had any choice; it was always iPad aspect or bust. Apple also copied the original LG smartwatch, put a crown on it and called it "all-new."

The more you know. 🤷‍♀️

We knew it will be popular especially amongst college kids cause it eliminates the need to log your laptop around to classes. Add a Magic Pen equivalent to that and you definitely get a space saving power tool. Some might still need their MacBook and windows laptops for the heavy stuff but it definitely will be the favorite amongst travel enthusiasts looking to drop the weight.

Since samsung already had a premier version I believe it's actually the reverse. The premier version was what I would call a careful experimental version with more attention given to the body than the screen itself. Maybe this was because of the failed attempts by other manufacturers like the Apple Communicator. This one however has the trendy, modern, and sleek look that makes you forget the starting price and that's what a definitive device does.

It’s interesting how Samsung only adopted this wider aspect ratio once rumors surfaced about Apple’s own foldable. You can make all the excuses you want, but the reality is that Samsung consistently mirrors Apple’s design cues, often rushing to beat them to market only to fall short. It’s a recurring pattern—much like when they tried to compete with the iPhone’s design features and failed.

How is it not obvious that Samsung only adopted the wider aspect ratio after Apple’s plans leaked? They released seven generations of foldables and even a tri-fold, yet they never went wide until Apple decided to. It’s the same pattern as the Watch Ultra or their previous design choices meant to compete with the iPhone. You can make all the excuses you want, but the facts are clear: when Apple pivots, Samsung follows suit. Anyone can see it.
