I'll be the adult in the room...have a good day sir or madam.

As soon as little TuGa says that you are a waste of his/hers time, he/she is out of ideas, and you’ve won. Personal insults about your sexual orientation are another tell.

I almost posted a reply to his comment after you told him your wife had cancer but that sh¡t was going to get me banned. I still have it in a draft though.

This is exactly what I mean; compared to other manufacturers, especially Samsung, Apple is much quicker at addressing these kinds of issues.

Apple has confirmed that it's working on a fix for a pretty bad bug that has been affecting some iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max units. If everything goes according to plan, the fix will be incorporated into a new firmware update that is scheduled to be released next week.

Playing the cancer card was a bit of a d!ck move on my part, but I felt his comment deserved it. She’s fully recovered and fine, by the way, so I was in no way looking for sympathy from that twerp.

I don't think it was. A good friend of mine was going through a nasty divorce & his ex thought it was a good idea to throw insults my way. Although he didn't take the high road & took jabs at her looks after her battle w/ cancer, I did & instead talked about how dumb she was for still having multiple streams of debt after he was paying for everything for 18 years. 😂

I have the 17 Pro Max, and it seems like since the 18 Pro/Pro Max came out, it has been having issue with FaceID as well. Friday, Sat, & Sun I have gone to use my device when pulling out of my pocket and FaceID basically doesn't activate. I'll be looking at my device and nothing happens. It still has the padlock showing the display is locked. I try swiping up, and nothing happens. I have to hit the power button 2-3 times for it to recognize I'm trying to open it.

I saw this comment recently suggesting that you are experiencing the same Face ID issues, but that doesn't seem correct. Since the iPhone 18 Pro series uses a new under-display infrared sensor for Face ID, whereas the iPhone 17 series uses the older, traditional hardware design with an exposed cutout, the bug is likely isolated to the newer architecture. It seems highly improbable that the same software glitch would affect both generations given their fundamental hardware differences.

No, the iPhone 17 series does not have this issue.

The Face ID crash and reboot bug is completely isolated to the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max.

The reason the iPhone 17 (and older models) are safe comes down to hardware design:

  • Under-Display Hardware: The 18 Pro series introduced a brand new design that hides the infrared Face ID camera underneath the display glass, moving it to the left of a shrunk-down Dynamic Island. The underlying software code handling this new under-display hardware sensor in iOS 27 is what caused the system-level kernel panic and crash.
  • Traditional Dynamic Island: The iPhone 17 series uses the older, traditional Dynamic Island layout where the Face ID camera sits completely exposed in a physical cutout. Because it uses the mature, older hardware configuration, the software code treats it differently and it does not trigger the freeze-and-reboot loop.

Something is not right here for sure.
