He's trying to push the financing to the Verizon credit card instead.

I prefer to buy unlocked phones anyway. Most of the subsidized phones are Samsungs or Apples, and I’m not a big fan of either’s current range.

Been a loyal Verizon customer for 24 years but will dump them like a bad habit if they cut the phone subsidies. I'm sure many will follow.

Device subsidies mean NOTHING to me. Getting a free Apple iPhone or Samsung Galaxy are not incentives at all. I'm a BYOD fan.

I'll surf Amazon for a phone or grab it directly from the manufacturer (Motorola usually), pay a couple hundo up front.

Just give me access to the tower and spectrum infrastructure and call it a day. That's all I'm paying you for.

Been a loyal Verizon customer for 23 years but I stopped using subsidies almost 10 years ago. I can't be bothered with being locked into the same phone under a legal contract. (You will end up paying more for the phone if you buy it through them.)

Everyone should stop device subsidies. Buy your own phone. And gee, if you don't have the money it doesn't have to be a 2000$ phone.

It all depends on how you see it. I see friends getting the Google Pixel 11 Pro for $1100 off without changing plans. That also means 36 months of monthly credit. As long as you don't mind chilling for 36 months, you only pay taxes on the phone.

The longest I have ever had a phone is 2.5 years, and I was itching to get a new one. I can't imagine being locked into a phone for 3 years, and not even having the option of getting a new one because you are legally bound.

When I used to get the subsidies, they were only for 2 years (phones also only cost $400), and I would usually pay it off early so I wasn't locked in for the full 48mo. That way I can get a new phone early without fulfilling the contract. But with prices as high as they are, the limited selection at carrier stores, and the move from 2yrs> 3yrs, no thanks.
