Well spacex needs to get more mid and low band spectrums. What it got from Echostar is just fraction of 1000mhz+ used by 3 major carriers.

for direct to direct communications instead of what they have now which is slow satellite based they need to build their own terrestrial communications network which is going to in the 3 figure billion dollars range and very costly. It going to eat away their company valuation. Unless they buyout T-Mobile which they have greedy eyes on but that’s not going to happen because of strict government regulations to maintain non-monopolization of the mobile communications sector. Even to build their own terrestrial communications network from scratch it’s going to take many years. Look at Dish network which they tried and failed. Help from Google is worthless. The are just MVNO selling their subpar phones.
