Apple named the iPhone Duo after a six-year-old failed Android experiment

I think if the Microsoft Surface Duo had a camera on the back of it, and a screen on the front of it, it would have done very well. But what do I know?

Btw, not sure if we can put links on here but the surface duo site is still up. That's pretty cool! I also think that is should have been marketed to who would actually use it. I couldn't picture either of those people in the ads actually using it. I get trying to be hip and trendy, but I think this should have shown older people who would A) have the extra income and B) find it useful instead of the cool kids. haha

And for the Galaxy Fold, I STILL wish they would bring back the Original's "Alien" color scheme, the gold and green. Maybe for the 10 year anniversary. That's the one I pre-ordered and they cancelled it.

And FINALLY the apple phone, I think Duo is way better than Ultra. I'm just wondering how many people I will see with these. I was in Miami when the orange phones came out last year, and it was like OVERNIGHT I saw so many people coming to the pool with them. I think the same thing will happen with this. SO MANY PEOPLE are going to buy this phone and so many people are going to brag how it is the best phone on the market (even though arguably I'd say it is the 4th best passport style foldable behind the Pura X Max, Xiaomi 18 Fold, Samsung Z Fold 8, and then this one). But until I use them all I can't guarantee that. I'd love to see all four be compared side by side in an article. 👀

I'll admit that the device is interesting, but I'll wait for JerryRigEverything to do his durability test before considering to get it. In the meantime, I'll take an 18 Pro Max.

So you're going to base consideration of a device you might use on someone who's intent is to destroy it vs real world performance? 🤦🏽

The line writes itself - Apple succeeds where other fail. Again and again.

Watching Microshaft and the "hired" Tech Media fawn over the Surface Duo v1 and v2 attempting to generate traction on a stillborn idea was ... hilarious! Did nobody in a strategy or marketing media ever say "No! People are not going to want to live w a device that has to be opened every single time to look at the time or a notification etc". Was there nobody to say "Hey, we are several generations in on the folding screen revolution. ... Or ... Nobody is going to settle at this point for a two screen device that split in the middle like a windshield in a 1930s automobile with the bar down the middle."

From the first photos of the device, it was obvious that it was DOA! So, from that point, watching the marketing efforts in house and paid outside the house or a lesson in what futility looks like.

This honestly makes me laugh because Apple somehow finds a way to dupe the iSheep EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. 😂

I mean, the comedy writes itself. They literally took the name “Surface Duo”—an actual device that was already made by Microsoft—and somehow turned it into something people are acting like Apple just invented. 💀

Like… imagine being so loyal to Apple that you see a familiar concept with a slightly different logo and immediately go, “OMG! REVOLUTIONARY! 🤯”

Meanwhile, Microsoft is sitting in the corner like:

“Uhhh… guys? We already did this.” 😂

At this point Apple could put two iPhones together with a hinge, call it the iDuo, slap a $1,999 price tag on it, and the Apple crowd would be lining up overnight like it’s the second coming of Steve Jobs.

“Look! Two screens!”

Microsoft: “Yeah… we know.” 😭

The funniest part is watching the marketing machine convince everyone that something that already existed is suddenly groundbreaking because Apple put an “i” in front of it.

Apple doesn’t reinvent the wheel.

They just wait until everyone forgets who made the wheel, put a titanium rim on it, call it Wheel Pro Max Ultra, and charge you $799 for the privilege of discovering it. 😂🍎

Wrong and misleading title. Apple literally owns the "Duo" name lineage from the Powerbook line going as far back as 1992. This is them recycling a name they coined first after Microsoft flopped making a stupid product.
