Even though I am a diehard Android fan, I am not going to pile on Apple over this. I truly hope Apple gets this sorted out and makes all their customers whole. People who spend this much money on a device need to get their moneys worth and i hope the best for them.

Apple Care is a definite benefit to Apple customers but I could understand the personnel that misadvised that it would have to be an out of pocket expense. The issues is even when watching reviews many people are not aware of the flange that snaps quite quick so they end up slamming it too shut not using their palm as a stopper or a buffer to the closing mechanism which is aluminium slamming head on.

This is that fine line that makes Apple hesitate because it could be user error at the end of the day. The design solution from my years of advising Apple is that they add a soft fringe that has softer material similar to how IBM made the think pad to ensure the harder parts of the screen do not crash against the soft matee screen.

Raise Apple Care to $25

"iPhone Duo repair requests are so high, Apple apparently can't keep up

Apple claims iPhone Duo cracks affect few users, but the ground situation tells a totally different story."

It’s common sense: Apple used the same hinge design across all these devices. If that component is inherently flawed, it’s only a matter of time before it fails for everyone. This should be treated like a car recall—if a part is defective and prone to failure, it needs to be replaced regardless of whether it has broken yet, rather than waiting for the inevitable to happen.

"But I really want Apple to be more transparent about the situation, like sharing exact details about how many units have experienced hinge, display, or other sorts of problems."

Apple’s lack of transparency is incredibly frustrating, especially given their history of downplaying well-known hardware failures. They have a recurring pattern of hiding the true extent of these "gate" issues from the public, and it is unacceptable to expect customers to pay out of pocket or face indefinite wait times for a device that is clearly suffering from widespread manufacturing defects.

I HIGHLY doubt an Apple rep would ever speak to a customer that way. They can’t just decide a customer has to pay for a repair when they have AppleCare. And according to Appleinsider.com, they contacted 20 Apple stores they’ve had a relationship with for years and there was only 1 iPhone Duo unit that needed replacement due to the screen cracking issue.
