Discussion - iPhone 18 Pro's ambitious A20 Pro chip is now causing problems

This is the last thing Apple needs at the moment.

They will figure it out, looking forward to getting an 18 Pro for my partner so she can upgrade from her 13 PM, personally going to stick to my 17 Pro Max and wait for the late 2027 range.

And...it can also be MARKETING. Letting the word go out "we only have a limited supply" will get rabid fans to stand in line, which makes Apple's heads smile.

Doesn't anyone remember Carl Pei when the OnePlus One came along and he cried that he was just a poor startup that didn't have the money to produce enough phones? THEN after the release, it was found that the OnePlus One was nothing more than a clone of the Oppo Find 7, with a couple differences, and was made by Oppo because BBK OWNED them all and Oppo actually made the phone?

Not saying it is, but marketing sometimes is why things like this happen.

Every year we hear some lame excuse to claim there will be delays and the only delays are just production based on when it starts.

At least here state-side, no one hasn't been able to not get a iPhone when they want one. It's all smoke an mirrors so you all run out and stand in line like trained animals.

Even if it is true, this is what you get when you don't make your own stuff. Apple has enough money to be making most of the parts for their own phone. But that would decrease profits and they don't want that.

The world will be OK if Apple, Samsung or anyone else didn't make a phone for a year or 2.

As long as the foldable model is available at launch, I think most people will be fine, as that seems to be what everyone is buying. For me and many others, this marks the end of traditional candy-bar phones; moving forward, I’ll be using the iPhone Fold and my Fold 8 Ultra.

I think it's a fantastic idea to do that and hope they do get as much supply to do what needs to be done. I think this new Apple team has what it takes to not only change the way phones are used but remind us to put it down once in a while and enjoy the simple things. It can only get better when you innovate.

Like some have said it could be a marketing strategy by Apple but we want to see what the foldable is like and whether it will trump the rivals and introduce a tougher style with a long-lasting battery. Remember a wider screen means more power used in emitting light.
