Discussion - Why should the Galaxy S27 Ultra try harder if the iPhone 18 Pro and the Pixel 11 Pro are camera-lazy, too?

How else are they going to beat the competition if they aren’t better than them.

Why should they try harder? 🤣 Do we really need to answer that onem?

1st off, they just made and announce the HPC sensor. But it likely won't take be production ready for the S27.

So what about th3 battery. The god you worships kept basically th3 same battery size for a similar period, didn't see you complain even once. You also don't complain when they use any of the other same crap for 5+ years.

Again,the bias here is just dumb. Your god hasn't changed it's camera sensor for several years either. When you gonna complain about it?

Funny, I always thought the point of these products, or any product really, was to meet the expectations of its customers, i.e., me. Samsung, Goolge and Apple full WAY the hell short of my camera expectations and as a result will not receive my money over Oppo, Vivo or Xiaomi.

I think the point is to maximize profit and minimize loss. Why put the best sensor in their flagship when past history shows they can skimp on that and the battery and not suffer a loss in market share? I agree with you and I am moving from Samsung to Oppo at this moment. But Samsung doesn't care about people like me. I am clearly an an outlier. Until we reach a point where that is NOT true, Samsung will not change their strategy.

Why should samsung try harder? Because they have been lagging behind for quite some time now.

It may be a little less noticeable in the Ultra phones, but if we watch the whole S line closely, they have been quite stagnant in the camera department for the last 5 years.

If they dont wake up soon, they will continue to loose market share to apple (or other premium brands), like happened after the huge 17 series' success

Apple is years behind when it comes to image quality. Their telephoto zoom quality is 3 or 4 generations behind the competition. To be fair, video quality is still top notch but they are lagging behind the competition.

Samsung hasn't been pushing boundaries for a long while now, and now we are in an era where tech future is gloomy with all the AI data centers hogging all the resources, do you really expect Samsung to start pushing boundaries NOW?

Heck, we should be grateful these companies still bring out upgrades to their phones that they release EVERY SINGLE YEAR in such a bad time.

Smartphone revolution has long since ended, there is no boundary pushing from the established big 2 (Apple/Samsung) and google a distant 3rd.

The only ones pushing boundaries are Chinese, but given that many are blocked from US and not readily available in most of Europe, they get overlooked by all but tech savvy folk.

If Huawei, Xiaomi, Oppo, Honor had unrestricted access to western markets without stigma they would likely eclipse Samsung for sure by a mile, Huawei easily toppled apple and Samsung in its heyday in volume and that would easily happen again, apple is king of Revenue though.

The markets need fair competition or innovation/development stagnates.

Samsung are not losing market share to apple, your view is skewed, Samsung are losing market share to other android makers, Huawei, Oppo, Vivo, Honor, Xiaomi, same ecosystem is much easier to switch to.

Very few people overall will make the jump from Android to IOS and vice versa.

Apples market will usually mostly grow from new user activations, not taking them away from existing android users although there will of course be users that jump ship.

The problem is that in markets where Samsung is most prevalent, there is no competition other then Apple who produce phones in exactly the same lacklustre innovation type of way.
