The biggest problem with Google's messaging app is that it doesn't allow you to select a particular part of a message. For instance, in the message, "Hey, this is Aman from PhoneArena," you can't select and copy a particular section like "from PhoneArena." Instead, you only have the option to select and copy the entire message.

This is incorrect and there already has been a workaround for quite some time. You can and have been able to swipe up from the bottom of the screen opening the app sliding rolodex thing where you can scroll left and right between Messages and all your previous apps. While in this floating app mode, you can and have been able to long press on any message, copy and paste any portion of text in Messages or any app you long press that has text. From this screen you can also share and search once you highlight text and if you do this mechanic to an image it gives you the option to Lens or Quick Share or Save or Share to an app or contact. I have been using this functionality for years at the very least at this point. The workaround has been there.

"After the official shutdown of Samsung Messages, Google Messages is likely the only popular texting application available for Android. "

Wait...what? Signal, Telegram, WhatsApp, Threema and so on.

How about doing the same type of articles about iMessage? An app where none of the important thing are implemented yet.

It is honestly baffling that Google still tries to compare this app to iMessage while missing such fundamental features for so long. I’ve actually seen these issues on the Galaxy Fold already, so it's frustrating that it has taken this long to roll out more broadly.

Even with these features, until you can use Google Messages on wifi only like you can with iMessage, it'll never be comparable.

Not sure what you mean as I use Google messages all the time on WIFI only. My tablet is WIFI only and when at home and my S25 Ultra operates only on WIFI and texting works just fine. What universe do you live in?
