Discussion - Secret iPhone Ultra weapon could end the Fold 8's victory lap

It is frustrating when Samsung removes features like S-Pen support from their foldables. If Apple actually delivers an iPhone Ultra that includes a stylus, it would be a major selling point. A foldable device with ipad-like Ios, integrated stylus support feels like the ultimate productivity tool—what else could you possibly need?

According to what i could find, the S-Pen support was removed from thr Fold 7, because the device was too thin to support the technology.

The Pen Samsjng uses is license from WACOM who at the time, did not have a substrate for the display thin enough to meet the new phone design.

Unlike capacitive touch screens thst can use any pen, WACOM uses a magnetic solution which if the digitizer is too then, it won't work. It n also likely won't work with the Titanium panel inside the latest model.

Since the solution is metal, it can't be close to other me t as inside the pjone without being shielded which add ani t her layer too.

I do agree 100% with you that it is frustrating when Samsung removes features. Th3 fact they removed sdcard support from the premium models while still having it on cheap models is disturbing

Especially because they could have solved it by either working to make a faster controller for it, or replacing it with a separate storage chip.

I don't think the folding iPhone coming with a pen would change anything. The problem with the device is gonna be its size. The design is terrible vs other available solutions. The Pixel Fold is the best looking device and at least it is a full sized device like the Fold 7 or 8.

The shorter devicebis cool for movies as the letterboxing isn't as bad.

The only thing going for Apple device is their are fabatics who want a foldable, but don't wanna jump ship for it.

I think basically it will just run iPad apps with some design changes to the app pages so it fits. But all iPad Mini apps will fit fine.

The biggest issue I think is gonna be price. The fact it will cost more than their MacBook, it needs to be more than just an iPad that folds in half.

If they did a similar implementation like the Surface Duo 2 it could work without getting in the way but it's very unlikely this will come to pass.

With a mohs scale of hardness of 2, how the heck is a stylus going to work without SCRATCHING the screen? It would have to be RUBBER tipped and those things don't work as well as the harder tipped stylus.

It doesn't even need to include a stylus; just Pencil support. If that happens then the real question would be would the iFold take away from IPad sales, specifically the iPad Mini.
