The thing is, no foreign brand can actually do that well in China, no matter in what. Cars, electronics, u name it.

That's because China just has too many companies to the point of saturation. Even if some of the Chinese companies are not that big and only occupy a small market share, multiply that by the amount of companies in China and there's not really much room left. And on top of that they are on their home turf.

What is interesting to me is that the Mate XT/XTS sold (estimated) between 100,000 and 200,000 depending on where you get the data. So let's say that it was 150,000. That's roughly over 4% of the market for just that phone (which is $3,000 USD). So if preliminary estimates come to pass then just their top of the line tri-fold beat:

Oppo - 3%

Google / Vivo - 2%

And is almost equal with Xiaomi's 5%.

That's wild. I REALLY hope they keep the same form factor for the upcoming XT 2, but I have a fear they'll go the Samsung route with inner folding and I'll have to take a hard pass on it.

Fee, Samsung, a South KOREAN company doesn't sell as well in communist China? A country that knows everything you do, everything you say, everything you buy? Color me shocked! NOT!

Congratulations to Huawei. They make incredible folding devices, and aren't afraid to take chaces with innovative and new form factors, like the Pura X and Mate XT.

Unfortunately, Huawei's software support is just sad for EMUI devices. Imagine pricey flagships that only get security updates.

Yeah Huawei's software support is definitely lackluster especially when HarmonyOS is already lackluster itself being a glorified wannabe iOS clone operating on faux Android source code.

Taking chances and innovation is meaningless when your offerings can't even be bothered to be supported by consistent updates.

Huawei just released EMUI 16.

Now what I find really sad are Pixel updates. Imagine receiving bug infested update after bug infested update on a pricey forever beta phone that's stuck in a bug loop.

I prefer that a brand take chances and innovate, as opposed to staying complacent and bland, with non-existent QC and forever beta phones.
