I think the iPhone Duo is solving a problem Huawei already solved

It's not really a flex considering that it's primarily a Chinese phone that's gated out of standard functionality outside of China where it's pretty much dead in the water. Factoring in that it doesn't have Android, doesn't have a standard OEM warranty, and limited carrier compatibility, it's not really a flex.

My first Huawei phone was the original, Ascend Mate. Loved the wider aspect ratio. Now all phones, are tall/skinny. I think the reason is so all of the social media/influencer types can more, easily snap selfies with one hand while posing. 🤣

It's definitely a flex, and it being a "Chinese phone" has nothing to do with anything. That's just someones xenophobia talking. It also has standard functionality outside of China where it isn't dead in the water, and anyone saying that it is has never used a HarmonyOS powered device before. Every device doesn't have to run Android to be capable, and some Android devices are incapable of not introducing more bugs and issues on a regular basis. It does have a standard OEM warranty, the person saying that it doesn't can't back that up with facts. It also has compatibiltiy with many carriers, so it's really a flex.

They recently released a wider phone. I saw a quick look at it from Average Dad' video about Huawei.

Calling basic criticism "xenophobia" doesn't magically make a crippled app ecosystem, sidelined Google Mobile Services from sketchy workarounds, and a heavily restricted OS running on a sanctioned chip a "flex" as someone is erroneously reporting. Buying a CHINA status symbol with a regional chokehold isn't innovation— it's paying top dollar to live life on hardcore difficulty just to flex a brand logo that lacks the core functionality of the more established OEMs.

I want the Huawei Pura X View as much as I want the air that I breathe, but after doing research on using a Huawei phone in the United States and talking to T-Mobile (my Carrier) I will not be buying a Huawei Pura X View and attempting to use it here in the United States. (I need my phone to be a reliable, fully functioning device- not an experiment in what I can and can't do with a phone that was never intended for the US Market.)

For now, I will be holding onto my Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. I had the battery replaced a few days ago ($100.48 at UBreakiFix) in preparation for holding onto it for up to three more years (even though, I'm tired of tall and skinny phones).

I HAVE REACHED A CONCLUSION REGARDING THE NEXT PHONE THAT I BUY:

I WILL NEVER AGAIN BUY A TALL AND SKINNY PHONE (a phone with a screen aspect ratio taller and narrower than 16:9). There's no reason to buy a tall and skinny phone now that wide, passport style foldable phones are here!

I'm not entirely sold on owning a foldable phone (durability of the inner screen is a real concern) but I'll pay more than $2,000 for one wide, passport style foldable phone before I would spend one penny for a warehouse full of tall and skinny slab phones!

I'm not going to upgrade to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 (its cameras aren't worthy of a $2,000 phone) and I won't consider buying an iPhone Duo (I prefer Android). My next phone buying opportunity will come when the Galaxy Z Fold 9 is introduced next year. (C'mon Samsung, you have a year to get it right!)

Needless to say, if a phone like the Huawei Pura X View is introduced in the US market in the next two to three years, I'll get rid of my Galaxy Z Fold 9 (if I buy it) in favor of THAT PHONE- and it won't matter if it isn't a Samsung phone.

I want a non-folding phone with a screen aspect ratio in the area of 16:9, slim bezels, great cameras, etc- FULL STOP!!!

Calling your xenophobia "basic criticism" doesn't magically make the crippled buggy and beta platform that you support that's been sidelined from a problem free experience with its sketchy workarounds suddenly work wonderfully. And the fact that your chosen OEM is left off of the top 10 global charts for multiple categories as if it were restricted and sanctioned, isn't a "flex" like you erroneously think it is. Buying an ISRAELI spy machine and thinking it's a status symbol with a regional chokehold isn't innovation— it's paying top dollar to live life on hardcore difficulty just to flex a brand logo that lacks the core functionality of the more established OEM's. 😏
