It's not just talk. People do leave, like I did after 19 years.

And yes, TMO could lower prices if they wanted to, that would make them more, not less competitive. TMO s retail footprint is disappearing ( others may follow) and there are MVNOs with retail footprint ( consumer cellular).

Common sense people do not need " perks" and phone deals. The good reason not to go to MVNOs is the network priority ( but it's importance depends on location)and lack of things like scam filter.

People leave. We left T-Mobile after being with them since 2006. The prices got ridiculous and we left and saved over $1500/year

No matter what T-Mobile does, someone will complain. I have a great price and 2 flagship phones that T-Mobile subsidizes, I'm not about to leave. The fine print of the mvno's doesn't work for me, including everything from ridiculous limits to some that actually have no free roaming. I'll pay a little more and remain drama free.

Lowering prices will only make T-Mobile more competitive not less. They had great prices during the One Plan and Magenta era.

MVNOs have come pretty far. Most of them offer great value for cheap prices. Just look at how good US Mobile is.
