Yeah I can't take this guy seriously... and what a coincidence you wanting a non folding passport style phone immediately after Huawei announced Pura X view... how original...

I've always argued: if you make the outer screen too much like a regular slab, you never need to unfold. People forget the outer screen was supposed to be nothing more than a glorified notification screen.

Now here we are. That's why I find that square non-folding Huawei intriguing

This is the use-case I would see for myself. If the outside screen is big/close enough to what is normal in a slab phone, then I can use it 75% of the time. This will save the hinge wear, and protect the inner screen.

But 25% of the time I want that bigger screen to either watch something/play a game, or have multiple apps open. Not for productivity, but just because a bigger screen is easier to use like when making a purchase or signing up for something so you don't make a mistake.

I want a normal-sized phone in my pocket, with the option of going bigger if I need.

I completely understand where you're coming from. When I first grabbed the Fold to mess around with it, I felt the exact same way. That cover screen is amazing; there's really no need to open the device unless you specifically want to watch a movie or play a game. That’s exactly why I picked up the Fold 8 Ultra. Since I’m primarily an iOS user, I’m hoping the rumored iPhone foldable will offer a similar experience.
