I would love to see Samsung use the Exynos 2700 if it's competitive with the Snapdragon. The Qualcomm brand name is not the decision factor for me but unfortunatelyi think most people will not agree with me. If the Exynos 2700 can provide a buttery smooth experience I could care less about benchmark numbers as any performance greater than what it takes to get the job done are meaningless. Of course reliability is paramount and power efficiency/thermals are highly desirable.

With price hikes looming, the prospect of losing the Snapdragon chip in favor of Exynos is bound to create quite a stir. It will be interesting to see how the FANGIRLS try to justify this move if Samsung goes through with it.

Really? I haven't thought of the Exynos being a possibility for the ultra Samsung flagship? I think of that every year. I've had the S21 Ultra Exynos version and it's why I'll never purchase Samsung again. Who rumored that the Exynos will beat the new SD chip? I bet it was Samsung themselves to seed hype before their launch. I've seen how great the fabled 2nm Exynos was this year against the SD8 Elite Gen 5 with the Snapdragon battery life being a full 2 hours 28 minutes longer than the Exynos variant. Wanna bet it'll be the same this year? Another thing. DroidDeck just released with support for steam games on android but it's only compatible with Snapdragon chips. So... Why would I want an Exynos again, to lock myself out of options? Nah bro I'm good.

On a positive note, Samsung is in a strong position; by manufacturing most of their own components, they have viable alternatives if they choose not to use Qualcomm. However, I hope Qualcomm can resolve these ongoing issues, as the S27 Ultra looks promising and their chips have historically been very reliable. While early benchmarks suggest the Exynos might be more powerful, I still lean toward the reliability of Qualcomm. Either way, it seems like a win-win situation for Samsung.

IMHO, a key question is or will be just how good Samsung's modem for the 2700 is? By that I mean signal strength and energy efficiency, especially in stand-by. Qualcomm's cell phone modems have long been considered to be the best in the business, whereas Samsung's have a more spotty reputation.

But, if that's no longer a real difference between those two SoCs, I'd be okay with an Exynos 2700, as long as Samsung passes the savings from using its homegrown SoC on to us buyers. And I know, dream on....
