I'm 63 and have had a cellphone since they quit being 2 pieces you carried around with a shoulder strap. I have never owned one more than 3 years nor do I know anyone with a phone older than 3 years. With equipment and software improving so quickly, who even keeps a phone as long as 4 years? I haven't had a landline in my home in over 15 years. I imagine I'm on the older side of the readers here, do young people keep their equipment longer than 3 years, or do they just want to be able to?

Well, i'm 42 and i had mobilephones since the turn of millenia. Firstly i had them as operator have plane for 24 months, but after that time they weren't obsolete, so after 2010 or so i extande plane and capt mobilephone instead to exchange for new phone.... that's just materialistic greed to change it every 2 or 3 years.
Oh, and one more thing... i remember when i couldn't open or use older files in new phone. From that point of view i'm holding on a mobilephone as long as i can. Still using Samsung galaxy S20 fe.
Materialistic greed? Are you jealous? T-Mobile exchanges my phone for free every 2 years, I don't pay anything extra for my equipment. I do happen to like equipment that keeps up with technology, cellphones aren't hammers or screwdrivers, upgrades matter. 42 years old? You act like you're 82. Like I said, I've had cellphones for over 30 years and NEVER had any difficulties opening any folders with a new phone. Perhaps I'm misunderstanding you because of your poor grammer, if so I apologize, I don't understand half of what you typed.
