Discussion - T-Mobile, AT&T and Verizon need to be schooled by Starlink and I've got my popcorn

I'm not sure what the whole point of your opinion is. First off, there is no "monopoly", there are 3 major operators. Secondly if the satellite services doesn't save me any money I don't care. Lastly, if a tower has a problem it can be fixed relatively quick while a satellite hit by space debris is going to take more time to service/replace. I truly don't see any benefit to the satellite service unless you happen to be in a very remote area. I had satellite service with T-Mobile on the beta and only twice did I ever need it and it was in an area I was traveling thru at 80 mph. I have cancelled the extra fee for the service as it doesn't give me any personal value.

I have had an ATT or a Verizon account for over 20 years. Never have I ever had such bad service as in recent years. Relocating now to another state for the rest of my retirement, I hope Starlink is the answer for my 5 phones, 3 tablets.

More competition the better, hope Starlink is successful as it's always better to have more options than less.

Low earth orbit satellite has its place. There are lots of rural and coverage gap situations where it is a viable solution. But the " traditional infrastructure" you reference is fiber optics, and the whole world runs on it... From your home wifi, to cell towers, to every connected device in the world of any type. I don't foresee satellite ever being a viable, direct medium replacement for glass. One strand of glass has more capacity than the current total bandwidth of all those satellites in orbit. Satellite communication wouldn't exist without fiber and is the very foundation which makes it( and cellular) possible. LEO SAT has its applications, but it will never go toe to toe. The big 3 will monetize the pipe they provide very soon, and I would expect continued movement into that space to squeeze newcomers, along with the purchase of prized spectrum.

Starlink needs to buy one of the three carrier, mostly T Mobile for their market share and then launch Starlink as an extra subscription when needed.
