Discussion - I think Samsung should be far more concerned by your One UI 9 disinterest than your anger

Samaung took so long for nothing. Got it. But nunob512 just said samsung took their time to do it correct and gave people absolutely nothing new. Rename one ui8.5 that's all they did in 6 months.

Most are not upset about the One UI 9 role out because they are very happy with One UI 8.5. It's not like we are waiting for bug fixes as their aren't really aren't any bugs to fix, that I am aware of anyway. Other than any obvious cosmetic changes I think most users never see the difference as most users are not power users. I don't think Samsung's intention is to provide major earth moving changes but rather to polish and refine. These kind of changes often tend to be subtle and less obvious.

I remember when I used to care abut updates so much! Like I couldn't WAIT for something new to "leak" so I could get excited for it. I'd be in the beta because I wanted to try what's new first. But now, I really don't care about updates. I don't think any phone company does a good job truly outlining what is different and new and makes it worth the upgrade.

My current Samsung is on 6.1.1. I have no idea what is new for any updates that have come out, and there is absolutely nothing that I think is "missing" from my phone. All of my apps work as intended, and I enjoy my phone. Back in the day when Android was so young, it was worth getting updates every year. But now, I don't care. There are some features I wish were universal. Like one of the coolest is on Xiaomi you can hold up volume and screen on and you can go to the power menu to turn off or reset. And on Vivo I like how you can pick the widgets on the lock screen better.

I wish someone would come up with a system like HTC where I could have the 4 apps on the lock screen and if I dragged any of those apps to the circle, it would unlock the phone with those apps open.

I just realized, maybe I should ask Chat GPT what all the best features of each phones software is so that I know what I should be looking for. haha

I honestly do not notice a difference between One UI 9 and its predecessor. I don't expect 9.5 to be any different either. This tracks with Samsung clinging to the strategy of incremental updates to hardware and software. There are other things that bother me about Samsung, such as not using the best cameras and screens on their flagship devices. That combined with their love for incremental improvements paint a picture that, were they not complacent, should give them some worry.
