Gaming phones have the best specs for the money — so why does almost nobody buy them?

I keep going back and forth on this every time a new ROG Phone or RedMagic drops. You get the top chipset, way more RAM than any "flagship," better cooling, higher refresh rate panels, bigger batteries, and it's usually £200-300 cheaper than the equivalent Samsung or Apple device. On paper it's the best deal in the whole market.

And yet almost nobody I know actually owns one. Everyone still goes for the S-series or iPhone even when they complain about the price.

I think it comes down to three things: no proper camera, resale value tanks fast, and the design screams "gamer phone" in a way a lot of people just don't want to carry around at work. So the specs are there, but the phone still loses on everything except benchmarks.

Anyone here actually daily driving a gaming phone? Does it hold up outside of gaming, or do the camera and software compromises make you regret it after a few months?
