Ah, that makes a lot of sense now. The original estimates were that they could only produce 100k units/mo, totaling 6-7mil units.

All they had to do was lower quality controls, and now those 40% that failed QC (almost half) magically pass. THAT'S how they can achieve the 14mil estimated units (double the previous numbers) in the next year!

Crackgate. Apple had PLENTY of time to study the competition and get a proper foldable out, and they still failed. I don't even think that gimmick trifolding phone was as fragile as the iPhone Dud.

What is your source, and more importantly, what is the number for your statement: "...which has led to a not insignificant number of units breaking after only a few hours of use." In a survey of many review sites, blogs, and other internet sources, there appear to be less than 100 traceable units. Further, your comment "Apple was determined to get the iPhone Duo out there this year. It was going to kickstart new CEO John Ternus’s tenure no matter what." is equally absurd because if they really cut this many corners there was an extraordinary risk of SINKING his tenure as much kickstart his tenure.

Eight years later to Folding party ... and Apple rushed this thing to market with wonky SW and a failing hinge foundation? What was the proper launch supposed to do, 2034?

I'm sure Apple will blame this on the customer and not cover them under warranty.
